Patrick Michael Liegel
Thank you for visiting and remembering Patrick! Patrick's family can be reached at [email protected].
Patrick Michael Liegel, 52, of Lake Crystal, MN, passed away Oct. 3 in his home due to health complications. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Liegel-Hennessy; sister, Daphne (Brian) Berryhill; and two brothers, Ted (Zerie Moore) Liegel and Stuart (Kristin) Liegel; nieces and nephews; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his father and uncle.
Patrick was a jack of all trades, a self-made entrepreneur, a compassionate and caring person — and most importantly, as his friends would say, a “giving guy” who always put himself last.
Born in Milwaukee Aug. 8, 1970, but raised in the Chicago suburbs and Plain, WI, Patrick grew up the loving, protective brother of his three younger siblings.
After highschool, Patrick became a professional racecar driver and attended trade school to learn welding and mechanics. From there, he started his own welding shop, using his skills to take on a variety of custom jobs and mentor others in his field.
Over the past few years, Patrick devoted his time to charity work through the Dominican Republic and helped teach kids how to play baseball.
Patrick had a twinkle in his eyes when he smiled, shining light on all those around him. And while he will be deeply mourned by so many, those that knew him well can hear his voice in their heads, saying their names, and telling them to get back in the game: work hard, play hard and do the right thing.
Visitation was be held on Saturday Nov. 5 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Plain, WI from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with a funeral Mass following.
A Memorial will be held in Mankato on Sat. Nov. 12 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church (105 N 5th St) in the DeSmet Meeting Room, 1-4pm.
