George Robert Ricketts Jr.
How do you know George? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
On December 29, 2022, George Robert Ricketts Jr. left our world from Madison, Wisconsin as a free spirit and is now roaming through the heavens spreading unselfish kindness as he did on earth for over eighty-one years.
We know he is looking forward, not backward, to this new journey as he always did here on earth with his many friends and relatives including his sister Diane LeGrande and brother Rodger Ricketts.
George grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois and after college joined the US Peace Corps. This led to a fulfilling journey that would take him all over our world from the Philippines to Indonesia, Iran, Japan, China, throughout Europe, and all-over North America. No matter the time zone, George was always George.
What are the things that make George so unique and so special? A friend of George has a friend forever. One that would bring them joy and laughter with his songs, his writings, and his special and generous kindness. A gifted linguist, teacher, author, actor, and sometimes singer, George always put others ahead of himself. He continues and will forever be loved and missed here on earth.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of the charities below. They honor George's love of animals and his limitless compassion for people.
A virtual memorial was held on February 6th, 2023. A recording is available in the memories section of this site and on YouTube.
