Susie Marazita, 64, of Buchanan, Michigan passed away peacefully from stroke complications on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Memorial Hospital. Her loved ones were with her as she was called home to Heaven. She bravely fought the severe aftereffects of the stroke.
Susie was a fighter-not one to ever quit on her dreams, as demonstrated by the fact at age 50, she went back to college to earn her Master's degree. Her husband, Mike, would tell her that she was like the movie character "Rudy" refusing to quit, or to be dissuaded from her goals.
Susie was born in Sopron, Hungary to Joseph and Theresa (Garab) Bella on May 11, 1956. She emigrated to America with her parents as a baby during the Hungarian Revolution against the Communists.
She graduated South Bend St. Joseph High School in 1974. She was active in poms and dance there.
On June 4, 1977, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Susie was united in marriage to Michael D. Marazita, he survives. Also, surviving are her parents, Joseph and Theresa Bella of South Bend; son, Joseph P. Marazita of South Bend; daughter, Stephanie (Patrick) Blandford of Lansing, Michigan; two loving grand-children, Silas Blandford and Stella Blandford.
Susie received her Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University in 1986 and her Master's Degree (Teaching English As a Second Language) from Andrews University in 2010.
She taught at Andrews University and for TLC at Indiana University South Bend. She loved and was loved by her students, touching lives from many, many, countries around the world, even helping some achieve the American Dream of citizenship.
She enjoyed dancing, music, vacationing in Scottsdale and Sedona, Arizona, reading newspapers, floral gardening, playing cards and checkers, writing poetry, and sewing. She also enjoyed holiday decorating and cooking. She was a beautiful person, kind, bubbly, funny, and an extremely generous daughter, wife, mother, Manya, and friend.
Most of all, Susie cherished time she got to spend with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Palmer Funeral Homes- Guisinger Chapel, South Bend. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation, no interment, or wake. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 11:00AM at St. Anthony Parish, 509 W. 4th Street, Buchanan, Michigan 49107 with Father Leo Cartagena officiating.
