Zola McKenna Bull, 87, of Sugar City, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Homestead Assisted Living Center. She was born December 28, 1934, to Jane Mahalia and Earl Raymond Wilding, in Sugar City, Idaho where she grew up. She attended schools in Sugar City and graduated from Sugar-Salem High school. She also attended Ricks college.
Born and raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she remained active and faithful throughout her life while serving in several callings. She married and was sealed to Doyle A. McKenna in the Idaho Falls Idaho temple. Their home was blessed with nine children. They also opened their home to other teenagers and young adults who became part of the family for a time and who are very dear to them. Several years after Doyle's death, she married Lawrence Bull.
Zola was a very good homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, and gardening. She painted and perfected the art of crochet. She crocheted hundreds of hot pads and probably close to one hundred afghans. She enjoyed singing and participated in the local Cantables womens choir for several years. She was a master bread maker and taught several bread making classes at the institute while serving as a missionary in San Diego California mission with Lawrence. She had a heart of compassion and became a certified nurse aid. With this skill set she found opportunities to care for individuals in her community during their times of need.
Zola is survived by her children: Jolene Dee Osorio (Eduardo-deceased), Carole Lee Matiaco (Steven), John Blake McKenna (Brooke), James Roger McKenna (Nona), Ruth Ann Butler (Bryce), Clare Lynn Brown (Curtis), Renee Beattie (Morrell), Thomas Oldham McKenna (Kristen) and Sarah Jane McKenna Rogers. She has 51 grandchildren and 63 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by both of her husbands, seven of her ten siblings, a daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren.
