Yvonne passed away peacefully June 15, 2024. Born December 22, 1940 in California, she grew up in Idaho and California and was a graduate of BYU, teaching high school in Utah before serving a mission in Austria for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
While working in Washington, DC, for the U.S. Department of Justice, Yvonne met her husband, Loran Dean Stephenson, Jr. and they married in 1972. They raised their five children in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC. Loran served as a cellist in the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC, and Yvonne sometimes went abroad with him when the orchestra toured. Yvonne served in many callings in the Church, and in the Washington, DC temple. She loved teaching, music, and wrote stories and poems. After Loran retired, Yvonne and Loran moved to Colorado.
Yvonne is survived by her husband, Loran; children, Ed Stephenson; Gainesville, VA; Angela Felsted; Locust Grove, VA; Evan Stephenson; Bow Mar, CO; Brent Stephenson; Annandale, VA; and Heather Huling; Columbia, MD; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Jan Phillips, William and Stephen Rice. Preceded in death by parents; and sisters, Kathleen and Marlene.
