Yvonne Ruth Stephenson

Yvonne Stephenson passed away peacefully June 15, 2024. Born December 22, 1940 in California, she grew up in Idaho and California, then graduated from BYU. She taught high school in Circleville, Utah before serving a mission in Austria for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

While working in Washington, DC, Yvonne met her husband, Loran Dean Stephenson, Jr. and they married in 1972 in the Salt Lake City temple. They raised their five children in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC., where Loran served as a cellist in the National Symphony Orchestra. Yvonne served faithfully in many callings in the Church, and in the Washington, DC and Denver, Colorado temples. She loved music, teaching, and writing stories and poems. After Loran retired, Yvonne and Loran moved to Colorado.

Survived by husband, Loran; children, Ed Stephenson, Angela Felsted, Evan Stephenson, Brent Stephenson, and Heather Huling; 16 grandchildren; siblings, Jan Phillips, William and Stephen Rice. Preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Kathleen and Marlene.
