Yvonne Lombardo, 77, formerly of Davenport Center, NY passed away in Greensburg, IN on July 13, 2024.
Yvonne was born in Sidney, NY on August 7, 1946, the daughter of Robert and Virginia (Hall) Hone.
On May 15, 1965, Yvonne married Joseph M. Lombardo at St. Mary's Church in Oneonta, NY. They were married for over 45 years until Joe's passing.
Yvonne is survived by two daughters, Bobbi-Lynn Palmer (Kurt) of Alaska and Gina Schermerhorn (Chris) of Indiana; six grandchildren, Dennis Allen, Autumn Allen, Jessakka Mraz (Joe), Christopher Schermerhorn II, Zachary Schermerhorn (Hannah), and Mathieu Schermerhorn; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra Lou Jones of Maryland; two brothers-in-law, Anthony (Rose) Lombardo, Frank (Madeline) Lombardo; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and many friends.
Yvonne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe, and her parents.
Yvonne attended Oneonta schools. She obtained her beauticians license from Edward's Beauty School. Yvonne worked at Grants, Jamesway, Astrocom Electronics, and Ruffino's pizzeria in her younger days. One of Yvonne's proudest moments was her graduation from the Otsego Area School of Practical Nursing in 1979. She enjoyed working at the Oneonta Nursing Home and Fox Nursing Home.
Yvonne enjoyed helping those in need. She was always there to talk to day or night and would unselfishly talk through the night to family on long road trips to keep them awake. Yvonne always enjoyed shopping, crocheting, knitting, crafts, reading, TV, and sitting outside to enjoy visiting with friends. Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her family and hearing about all their adventures. Facetime and family visits were a highlight for her especially when the great-grandchildren came to see "GG-MA." She enjoyed her dining at Cracker Barrel. Yvonne was introduced to her immediate favorites of Dairy Queen's mini blizzard, Starbucks, and Jimmy John's Little Johns.
Yvonne had a few adventures in her last chapter. Her first was moving to Indiana. Soon after moving to her new home state, she explored the Madison Riverfront with her two daughters. Yvonne's last adventure was in October when her daughters took her to see The Ark Encounter in Kentucky. She will be remembered for her sass, sharp wit, and sense of humor. Yvonne will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Yvonne loved her two cats, Digger and Chubbs, and was eternally grateful that Samantha was so very kind to take them in and to continue loving and caring for them.
Yvonne's family would like to express their appreciation for the care given to her in the past nearly three years from the nursing staff at Crown Pointe Assisted Living (especially her favorites, past and present). While a resident there, Yvonne enjoyed bingo, having her nails painted, and socializing with her new family. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the folks at DCPC especially Lindsay and Carrie, as well to DCMH Pulmonology's Dr. Ferry and his staff of "Ferry's Angels".
Yvonne's wishes were to have a private Christian graveside service. She will be laid to rest in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta, NY. The family request any donations should be made to the local humane society/animal shelter of one's choice, Operation Smile, or Shriner's Hospital.
