Yong Ju Krick, 90, of Dauphin, PA, formerly of Bensalem, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 11, 2020 in the comfort of her home.
Born January 23, 1930, in Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, she was a daughter of the late Hun Nae Lee and Kum Sook Suh. On June 2, 1959, Yong Ju was united in marriage with Donald H. Krick, with whom she spent a devoted union of 61 years.
A skilled linguist, who was both tri-lingual and tri-literate, Yong Ju trained as a teacher and taught Kindergarten in South Korea. Later, while working at the U. S. Army Library, she made the chance encounter with her future husband. After moving to the United States, Yong Ju was employed by U. S. Steel, in Morrisville, PA, for many years. A faithful Catholic, Yong Ju also served as the Past President of the Korean International Daughters Society which led fundraising efforts for the Pearl S. Buck Foundation.
Yong Ju was the loving wife of Donald H. Krick; mother of Cindy Gaul, and her husband Timothy Gaul, of Moorpark, CA and Lora Lee Krick, and her husband Kenneth P. Koczur, of Mount Laurel, NJ; and grandmother of Samantha Goff, Gregory Gaul, Sabrina Gaul, Alexandra Gaul, and Marcus Koczur. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings and her grandson, Gregory Gaul.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday July 16, 2020 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 607 Stoney Creek Drive, Dauphin, with the Very Rev. Paul M. Clark, as Celebrant. The family will receive friends during her viewing, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M., prior to the Mass. A Committal Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday July 17, 2020 at Resurrection Cemetery, 520 Hulmesville Road, Bensalem, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
