Winold C. Goodman was born on March 27, 1929 in Beaumont, Texas to the union of the late Ozen B. Goodman and Teenie Jones Goodman. She was at home waiting on a call from her Heavenly Father when she received it on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lois G. Martin; brothers, O. B. Goodman, Harold C. Goodman, Sr. and Peter A. Goodman.
She received her education in the public schools of Beaumont and graduated in the class of 1945 at Charlton Pollard High School. She attended Prairie View A & M where she received her Bachelor's degree and later returned to receive her Master of Education degree.
At an early age, she received Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Live Oak Baptist Church. She later united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful and active member until her health declined.
She began her education career as a teacher at Honey Island Texas and was later employed by Beaumont Independent School District where she remained until retirement. During her career she touched the lives of hundreds of students. After retirement, she was active with the youth as well as seniors at her church-becoming a charter member of the Golden Years. She held life memberships in NEA, TSTA and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, where she was also a charter member.
Survivors remaining to cherish her loving memories are her brothers, Omer H. Goodman of Beaumont, Texas; Roland A. Goodman (Norma) of Temple Hills, Maryland; nieces, Diane Servance of Houston, Texas; Jocelyn Wells (Roy) of Sparks, Nevada; Cynthia Smith of Orange, Texas; Shari Goodman-Berry (Marc) of Bowie, Maryland; Stephanie Lynch (James) of Austin, Texas; nephews, Harold Goodman, Jr. (Chanette) of San Leandro, California; Roland Goodman, Jr. (Lisa) of Bowie, Maryland and Omer Goodman, Jr. (Tom) of Dallas, Texas; Loving "Sis" Dorothy Goodman of Arlington, Texas, special friends and caregivers, Rhonda Broussard, Frances Davis and Margaret Jackson all of Beaumont, Texas; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church located at 3920 W. Cardinal Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77705, with entombment to follow at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home. Additionally, streaming of the service will be on Facebook.com.
