Memorial services for Wilma Jean Williams, 80, of Lubbock and formerly of Post will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 AM at Family Harvest Church with Delton Osborn and Joey Hamlin officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 6 until 7:30 PM at Hudman Funeral Home.
Wilma died on September 25, 2025 in Lubbock. She was born at home in Lometa, Texas on February 28, 1941 to Johnnie Franklin and Vallie (Sneed) Daniels. She was the second of three daughters. Wilma attended Lometa High School. She accepted Jesus at the age of 18 at First Baptist church in Lometa. She married the love of her life, Billy Wayne Williams, on May 31, 1965 in Post, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2018. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked 20 years at the Post ISD cafeteria.
Wilma loved Jesus Christ, her family and friends and traveling the world. She enjoyed baking, gospel music, gardening and cookouts. She supported her family and friends all her life. Wilma served her community by volunteering at Post Cares, helped single parents, and gave many hours of service to the nursing homes by providing entertainment and organizing special events such as parties for birthdays and all holidays. She loved animals and actively helped Post Animal Refuge Center (PARC).Wilma received Post Citizen of the Year twice. She was a member of Jaycees, Lions Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Trailblazers.
Survivors include one son: Kurt and wife Robin Williams of Lubbock, one daughter: Sheri York of Lubbock, one sister: Waunice and husband Ronnie Bessent of Lometa, one granddaughter: Danica Williams Bates of Lubbock, ten step-grandchildren and a large extended family. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two grandchildren: Kylie and Samantha Williams.
