Wilma Ann Thompson, 86, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Saturday morning, May 1, 2021, at Plaza West.
She was born March 14, 1935, at Aliceville, KS, the daughter of Floyd and Ruby (Young) Schweizer. She grew up in the Aliceville area and graduated from Westphalia High School with the Class of 1953.
Wilma had been employed as a Nurses Aide at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, in customer service at Duckwall-Alco in Hutchinson, KS, and as photo department manager at Walgreens in Topeka.
She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka. She was also a member of the Quilter's Society and the Parkinson's Support Group.
On June 4, 1967, she and Walter Thompson were married at Auburn, KS. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2007. She was also preceded by her parents and two brothers, Roland and Albert "Harry" Schweizer.
She leaves her son, Jim Stukey of Burlington; her daughter, Penny Bayless and husband Kirk of Topeka; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Quisling Cemetery northeast of LeRoy.
The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
