Wilma Marie (Darlage) Rieckers, of Crothersville, passed away peacefully early
Tuesday morning, December 14, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center of Seymour. She
was 84 years old.
Wilma entered this life on her family's farm in Grassy Fork on July 29, 1937. She
was the first born to Eldor and Meta (Wischmeier) Darlage. She was a loving sister
to Howard, Melba Jean, Larry, and Janice. She was baptized on August 7, 1937
and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers on March 18, 1951.
Wilma was united in marriage to Robert Rieckers on November 10, 1957, at St.
John's Lutheran Church, Sauers. From this union, they were blessed with a son
Ronald Joseph Rieckers.
She was homemaker, a devoted wife, loving mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. Wilma was a lifelong member of St. John's Sauers Lutheran Church.
For over 50 years, she worked for Schneider's Nursery during the spring season.
Wilma is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert; son, Ronald (Kathy)
Rieckers of Brownstown; three grandchildren, Ross Rieckers of Crothersville,
Katherine (Daniel) Rautenkranz of Brownstown, and Felicia (Rev. Ryan) Schneider
of Radcliff, KY; four great-grandchildren, Heidi and Ava Rautenkranz and Elsie and
John Robert Schneider; two sisters, Melba Jean Barkman of Seymour, and Janice
(Daniel) Ster of South Carolina; and a brother, Dr. Larry (Mary Linn) Darlage of
Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Howard Darlage.
Funeral Services will be conducted at St John Lutheran Church, Sauers on
Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Craig Muhlbach and Pastor
Ryan Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at St John Lutheran Cemetery,
Sauers.
Friends may visit at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sauers on Saturday, December 18,
2021, from 9:00 am until time of the service.
Memorials may be written in Wilma's name to St. John's Lutheran School Music
Dept., St. John's Lutheran Church, or to the Lutheran Hour.
Services have been entrusted to Zabel Funeral Home of Brownstown.
