Wilma Ann Barnes, of Mishawaka, entered into eternal rest on April 7, 2022. She was born on July 31, 1932 to the late Wilma and Frank Gyori in Crumstown, IN. Wilma was a fan of NASCAR and Notre Dame football. May 6, 2002 will always be known as Wilma Barnes Day, and she has a pavilion in Hillis Hans Park in Mishawaka to honor the work she did for St. Joseph County. Wilma enjoyed time with her dog, Bailey Bear. Bailey was her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Charles Nagy; husband, Eugene Barnes; son, Jeffery Barnes; and brother, William Gyori.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Deborah Grimes; son, Jack Barnes; sister, Helen Weeks; brother, George Gyori; half-sister, June Meert; step-brother, Duane Nagy; granddaughter, Katie Barnes; grandsons, Jeremy and Bryan Barnes; and great-granddaughter, Kyra Barnes.
Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of the flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
