Willy lived the American success story. He came to America in 1958 with one suitcase, little money, and unable to speak English. Not long after Willy arrived in America, he was drafted into the US Army, where he happily served 2 years. Through hard work and a big smile, Willy made a wonderful life for himself and his family . He spent 40+ years working for Electrolux, starting out as a door to door salesman and eventually managing offices throughout upstate New York and Allentown, PA.
Willy always talked about how he had to come all the way to New York City to meet a nice German girl. Willy married Marlis Kuhn in January 1964. Surviving are their two sons, Andrew Tauber and wife Elizabeth, Peter Tauber and wife Nicole, 5 grandchildren: Kathryn Bridges and husband Alex, Matthew Tauber, Alicia Tauber, Kayla Tauber and Amanda Tauber and one great -granddaughter, Caroline Bridges. Willy's first love, Marlis, died on December 11, 1993.
Willy was blessed to marry his second love, Ruth M. McConnell on July 10, 1999. Willy and his “Ruthie” were inseparable and loved hiking, biking, traveling, going to the beach, and hosting big family dinners. Willy’s love of good food was legendary. He was known for making the most delicious roast turkey or whipping up “chicken a la Pop”.
With Ruthie, Willy gained a second family and is survived by Ruth and her children: Abby and Mark Jarrell, Margaret McConnell and Carrie, Matthew and Marie McConnell, Ben and Tara McConnell, John and Cori McConnell, Mark McConnell, Peter McConnell, and also 7 McConnell grandchildren: Avery, Lila, Jace, Reid, Kendra, Lorelei, and Penelope. Willy was a kind and loving stepdad to his new family and enjoyed the activity and bustle of a large family.
Willy’s own family was large. He was one of 8 brothers and sisters. Two brothers came to America with him: Hans (Elisabeth) Tauber and Walter (Pearl) Tauber, while 5 stayed in Germany: Rahel (Karl) Paschier, Franz (Katie) Tauber, Dora Tauber, Helmut (Mariana) Tauber, and Wilfried (Helga) Tauber.
