Willis Grigsby (Jiggs) Mills passed away quietly on October 8, 2019 at the age 96. Born near Cross Cut, Texas in Brown County on April 8, 1923.
He entered Texas A & M in 1939 where he majored in agricultural administration. Jiggs graduated with his class in early 1943 and entered the army. He served in the Quartermaster Corp during World War II. He commanded truck convoys that kept general George Patton's 3rd Army supplied with gasoline.
Jiggs working for Commercial Credit Corporation for 40 years retiring in 1987 as a vice president.
Jiggs married Imogene "Jean" Powell on September 1, 1951. Their only child Don was born in November 1957. In 1963 the family moved to Bedford, Texas where they lived for the next 15 years.
Jiggs and Jean also lived in San Antonio. In 1983 they moved back to the Dallas area buying a house in Richardson where they would live together for over 20 years.
Jiggs was proud of his large extended family particularly the "Chambers Clan" which was his mother's family. For 80 years this large group had an annual Thanksgiving Day reunion. Jiggs served as the host and "emcee" of this event for a number of his later years and it was truly his most anticipated time of the year.
Jiggs is survived by son, Don and his wife, Lisa of Colleyville, Texas and grandson, Clay in Evanston, Illinois.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Foust and Son Funeral Home in Grapevine, TX.
