Mr. William Franklin Wooten, Jr., age 84, of Rome, GA, passed away on September 11, 2022, at a local hospital.
Mr. Wooten was born in Lindale, Georgia on November 14, 1937, the son of the late William Franklin Wooten, Sr. and the late Gladys Reynolds Wooten. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army and was also a member of the Coosa Lodge #622 F. & A. M. Bill worked for 40 years at Temple/ Inland. After retiring, he worked for Riverside Chevrolet for fourteen years and then Georgia Auto Brokers, helping in transporting vehicles. He loved spending time with his family, the beach, watching his hummingbirds and gardening. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
He is survived by his children, Denise Brown (Bo McCain) and David Wooten (Karen); his grandchildren, Tiffany Beal (Bryan), Richard Stover (Chrissy), Joey Stover (Brandi), Bryan Wooten, Kevin Wooten (Danielle) and Stephanie Acree (Matt); several great grandchildren; special family friend and caregiver, Charlotte Guess; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Alice Trapp Wooten, his brother, James Wooten, and his infant sister, Nancy Wooten.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and also on Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 12:00pm until the service time.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Thursday at 12:30pm and include: Dennis McCain, Sammy Shetter, John Peoples, Bryan Wooten, Kevin Wooten, and Al Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers are Herman Brock, Jerry Martin and Rodney Shannon.
Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
