On the morning of January 30, 2017, William "Bill" Clayton Webb passed away after a month-long struggle with pneumonia. He was born in Los Angeles on December 12, 1921 to Clarence Z. and Kathleen (McHugh) Webb.
Bill served his country in World War II as a Major with the 451st Bombardment Group. After the war, he earned a degree in chemical engineering from University of Southern California and married Margaret Elizabeth Webb. They raised their family in South Pasadena and celebrated 57 years of marriage last spring.
Bill is remembered as a patient man who took great pride in providing for his family. He owned and operated a silversmith business, Boyles-Snyder Company, for nearly 25 years. Outside of work, Bill devoted his life to learning and pursued an informal education in the mysteries of the cosmos. He loved animals and sharing a good laugh with friends and family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Margaret; his three daughters: Eileen (Jeff) Hansotte, Barbara Powers, and Kathleen Webb; and his grandchildren: Jasmine (Bradley) Rockow, Cory Powers, Joshua Oliva, and Brooke Powers. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Sister Maureen Webb and Joseph (Rita) Webb.
Monsignor Clement Connolly will lead a funeral mass in his honor at 4 p.m., February 3, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1527 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena. Memorial contributions may be made to Tackett Service Dogs, which specializes in training service dogs for wounded veterans. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center.
