William Way Fick Jr.,70, of Saint Matthews, SC, passed away February 13, 2022.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30pm, Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Live Oak Cemetery. The family will greet friends afterwards at the Bedon-Lucas House, 205 Church Street, Walterboro, SC 29488.
William Way Fick, Jr., was born December 17, 1951, at the Walterboro, S.C. Army Airfield Hospital, the son of William Way Fick and Lennis Harriet Pearcy Fick. He attended Walterboro schools and Wofford College and retired from International Paper's Wateree Mill. Living more than thirty years in rural Richland County, William was proud of the National
Wildlife Federation's recognition of his twenty-plus acres with its Certified Wildlife Habitat Certificate, and he enjoyed long days in the woods and rivers surrounding his home. He was a faithful activist and volunteer for the Democratic Party.
Besides his parents and grandparents, William outlived his younger brother, Noel Winston Fick.
His survivors include five sisters: Carol Fick Fowler of Columbia; Amelia (Mimi) Fick Dias and Sarah Catherine Fick, both of Charleston; Jenness Fick Stoker of Aiken; and Lucia Fick Carroll of St. Matthews, near whom he lived for his final years. He is also survived by his uncle and aunt, English and Jewel Pearcy of Harleyville, in-laws, cousins, and two generations of nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly.
