William (Bill) Charles Tucker, 81, of Pace, Florida, passed away on December 3, 2025, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Surrounded by his family, he peacefully went into the presence of the Lord after a series of recent health complications.
He was born on May 18,1944, in Sparks, Georgia. He and his nine siblings spent their childhood primarily in Tifton, Georgia, as well as short stints in Saint Simons Island, Ty Ty, Tallahassee, and many other southern cities. Bill joined the U.S. military in 1961, serving in the Navy until his retirement in 1981.
William Tucker was married to Cressie Holland in Brewton, Alabama, on September 21, 1971. They spent time in Bagdad, Florida, before moving to California, where they had their daughter, Teresea (Teri) Tucker, in 1972. They returned to Bagdad before the birth of their son, Wesley Shane Tucker. Bill was briefly stationed in Virginia Beach before permanently moving to Pace, Florida, in 1977, where he remained and called home for the rest of his life.
After retiring from the Navy, he had two long careers as an insurance adjuster and a building inspector. He enjoyed volunteering at his home churches of Immanuel Baptist Church and Wallace Baptist Church over the past two decades. He loved hunting, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family. Cades Cove, Tennessee, where his ashes will be spread, has always had a special place in his heart.
Bill was known by all for his kindness and generosity. He had the gift of making friends wherever he went. Bill was servant-minded with a humble heart, never letting a word of complaint escape his lips. Each life he touched can attest to his thoughtfulness and his concern for the needs of others. He treated everyone like family and never hesitated to sacrifice his comfort or time to bless another's life. His grandchildren and their friends lovingly referred to him as "Bop," and he is a central figure in the best of their childhood memories.
He is survived by his wife, Cressie; his sister, Dorothy; his two children, Teri and Shane (m. Heather); four grandchildren, Zoe, Karis (m. Donavan Clark), Hudson (eng. Caroline Nichols), and Sophia, and dozens of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was eagerly expecting the birth of his first great-grandchild who is due in January to Karis and Donavan, as well as the upcoming wedding of his grandson, Hudson. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight of his siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wallace Baptist Church in Pace, Florida, on Monday, December 8th at 2:00 P.M. The service will be officiated by his pastor, Andy Martin. Visitation time will be offered at 1:00 P.M. for those who would like to give their regards to the family before the ceremony. The service will be followed by a meal in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome and invited to join the family.
"And what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" -Micah 6:8 NKJV
