William Thomas Tighe, Jr., passed away on Monday July 26, 2021 at his home in Plainville, where he was a longtime resident. Bill, as he was known to many, was born in Hartford on June 5, 1936, one of three children to the late William and Jessie (Stanley) Tighe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Leota "Lee" (Soucy) Tighe; his sons Michael (Nancy) of Burlington, Timothy (Robin) of Bristol and Brian (Kimberly) of Meriden; his grandchildren Christopher, Shannon, Zachary and Griffin and great-grandchildren Michael, Jaxon, Maddox and Brayden. Bill was predeceased by his sisters Ruth Santangelo and Marilyn Lantieri.
Bill was proud of his 39 years of service at the Plainville Fire Department and his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps. Although he traveled the world during his military service, his heart was always in Wells, Maine where he spent his summers as a boy and countless family vacations later in life, walking Moody and Wells beaches as often as he could. An avid crossword puzzle solver, Bill also enjoyed watching Barnwood Builders and golf, especially Phil Mickelson. He always had a story to tell and spent many a Saturday discovering treasures for family members at local yard sales.
In lieu of flowers, Bill's service to his town may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Fire Company, 77 W. Main St, Plainville, CT 06062
Honoring Bill's wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Tighe family for their trust. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.plainvillefuneralhome.com
