William T. Tierney, Jr, 91, of Pease Terrace in Lee, died Thursday after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Waterbury, CT on February 3, 1930 he was the son of William and Ethel Tierney. He attended Wooster Academy and after graduating high school he served in the US Navy from 1947-1951 on board submarines. After returning he embarked on a career in plastic engineering until his retirement in 1988.
After retiring, he and his wife of 64 years, Vivian Tierney, toured the country for 12 years traveling to 49 different states. When not traveling he would thoroughly enjoy his time spent at Fox Hill campground reminiscing and enjoying the company with family and friends.
William Tierney is survived by his sons, William Tierney, III and his wife Beth of Lee, Ken Tierney and his wife Cathy of Chelmsford MA, two grand-children Billy Tierney, IV and Dawn Simmons and two great grandchildren, Camden and Jordyn Simmons.
William Tierney is predeceased by his wife Vivian and his son Lawrence Tierney who died while serving in the US Army.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11AM at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Tierney's memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Care of the Kelly Funeral Home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
