William Tamplin 'Billy' Wayland, age 78, passed peacefully on Thursday, March 11th, 2021 in Sperryville, VA on the farm he lived and worked. He was born in Front Royal, VA on January 15th, 1943, son of the late John & Kathryn Wayland.
The love of farming was instilled in Billy at a very young age. He was driving tractors as early as five years old, standing to reach the clutch.
Billy could tell you the history on many brands of tractors and machinery. Massey Fergusons were his favorite by far. Many times over the years others came to Billy seeking advice on agriculture, specifically tractors and the raising of Angus cattle.
In later years when Billy had cut back some, he adored spending time with his wife, close family and friends, his Border Collie, Lucy, and hanging out in his newest shop.
Billy loved to make people laugh. He had such a tender and caring heart. Billy will live forever in many hearts.
Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Amy S. Wayland; three children, Jackie Wilk & her husband, David of North Carolina, Jay Wayland of Sperryville and Tiffany Wayland West & her husband, Corbin of Reston, VA; a sister, Margarite Wayland Tupper of Washington, VA and one grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Billy is preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Wayland and sister, Jacqueline Anne Wayland Fox.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021 at the Wayland Farm family cemetery in Sperryville, VA.
