William D. Stetler Jr., a beloved husband, father, and accomplished businessman, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on August 10, 2023, at his residence in Canton Christian Home. Born and raised in Hamburg, New York, William led a remarkable life filled with achievements, love, and cherished memories.
After graduating from Hamburg High School and Alfred College, William embarked on a successful career. He served as president and CEO of JC Brock Corporation, an international company renowned for pioneering the transporting, washing, processing, and, packing of fresh vegetables from all corners of the United States and Canada. Under William's capable leadership, the company flourished, reaching a remarkable $26 million in sales during the 1980s. His managerial acumen and innovative thinking contributed to the company's success. William and his wife of 71 years, Janice (Knoche), were the proud owners and operators of Bonnie Lane Farms, where they dedicated themselves to running a thriving farm and greenhouse operation.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, William was an active member of various organizations. Throughout his career, he was an active member of the Produce Marketing Association (PMA), He was a respected 32nd-degree Mason and Shriner, having served as the past president of the Shrine Chanters-a highly acclaimed vocal choir that performed across the United States. His musical talents earned numerous accolades and brought joy to many. William also played an essential role on the consistory at St. James United Church of Christ in Hamburg, New York, where he resided until his retirement.
In his leisure time, Bill cherished moments spent at his Cottage on Chautauqua Lake, reveling in the tranquility of nature. He also sought refuge from winter's cold in the warm embrace of South Carolina's climate.
William is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice, with whom he shared a profound love and 71 incredible years of marriage. He is survived by his two children, Bonita (Dennis) Ayer and William (Maureen) Stetler III, who were fortunate to have him as a devoted father. Additionally, he leaves behind four grandchildren and their spouses: Dr. Christopher (Angie) Stetler, Dr. Eric (Kerri) Stetler, Damon (Erin) Ayer, and Rachel (Gabe) Tudor, and twelve great grandchildren. William's legacy will live on through his family, who cherished him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made payable to: The Association for Benevolent Care and sent to Canton Christian Home at 2550 Cleveland Avenue NW in Canton, Ohio 44709. These contributions will honor William's spirit of compassion and generosity, ensuring that his memory continues to positively impact the lives of others.
