William "Bill" Stachelek, a man of absolute integrity and unconditional kindness to all people he encountered along his life's path, transitioned peacefully on December 8, 2020 from complications of coronavirus.
Born Boston, MA February 23, 1944, Bill and his twin brother Robert were the first born of five sons to Joseph and Theresa (Brown) Stachelek.
He was predeceased by his brother James. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Melissa Ruffy Stachelek, and children Kira and Darren; brothers Robert ( Gale), Ken ( Patricia ), Tom ( Kathy Muzyczka), sister-in-law Alouise ( Ruffy) Pelletier ( James Read), brothers-in-law Stephen Ruffy ( fianc?e Diane DePalma ), Gregory Ruffy ( Jeanne ) and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
Bill enjoyed a diverse career teaching locally in New Britain and Avon and internationally as a headmaster at schools in Brazil, Cameroon and Peru. Upon returning to the U.S. he worked for various companies in Information Technology. After retiring, Bill could not sit still, (he was a wonderful dancing partner our whole life), he managed the West Hartford Seniors Job Bank and the ACES - Life Stories Program at Jerome Home in New Britain, CT.
The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses, doctors and staff at The Hospital of Central Connecticut ICU for their compassion and support guiding Bill through his final days.
In addition, a very special thank you to the entire staff at Jerome Home who always treated Bill with dignity and love not only providing excellent care but also enriching his life everyday with their presence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's memory to ACES -Life Stories Program at Jerome Home, 975 Corbin Avenue, New Britain 06052 or a charity of your choice.
Due to the current CoVID-19 restrictions, there are no calling hours. The family will have a memorial celebration of Bill's life once it is safe to gather.
