William "Bill" C. Smiley, 95, of Rushville passed away December 29, 2021.
Bill was born April 22, 1926 in Rushville to the late Lee H and Jennie (Catron) Smiley. He was a graduate of Rushville High School, class of 1944. Immediately following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces, serving overseas in World War II.
Shortly after the war, he married Carolyn Sharpe, his wife of 65 years and she would precede in 2012. Bill made in living in the trucking industry and worked for International Furniture,
Perkins Furniture, American RedBall, Anacoda and Oliver Trucking. He also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushville where he was an elder and taught adult Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church in Rushville. He loved playing golf in his spare time..
Bill will be missed by his sons David (Cathy) Smiley, of Mulberry, IN; Kevin (Jane) Smiley, of Rushville, IN and his daughter Jennifer (Tom) Lott, or Greenwood, IN. Also surviving are his ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Bill was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and son-in-law Tom Lott.
A celebration of Life will be held 2 P.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory with Ron Naylor officiating. Visitation will be held 11 A.M. to the time of service. Military honors will be rendered at the beginning of the service. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, IN.
