Niles - William C. "Bill" Shields, 77, passed away Saturday evening, June 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on June 6, 1943 in Webster Springs, WV, a son of the late William D. and Ruby O. Shields
He worked at General Motors for 37 years before retiring in October of 2001, delivered for the Niles Times, and a caretaker at Niles First United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who loved to spend time with his family. He loved hanging out at the Corner Dairy with his children and friends. He never met a stranger and became a friend to everyone he met.
Bill will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Judy (Jones) Shields, whom he married on February 21, 1964; children, Wm Bryan (Rosina) Shields, Eric T. (Donna) Shields, Brandon S. Shields, and Erin K. (Joe) Anthony; grandchildren, Logan Eric Shields (19) and Dylan Michael Shields (17); sisters, Delores Latour, Evelyn Kimble, Geneva Wonner, and Rose Thorpe; and many nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends may visit from 7-8:30PM on Wednesday June 9, 2021 at Lane Family Funeral Homes at 415 Robbins Ave. in Niles and from 10:30-11:00AM on Thursday June 10, 2021 at Niles First United Methodist Church, located at 608 N. Crandon Ave. in Niles, with services to follow at 11:00AM
Burial will be held at Niles City Cemetery following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Niles First United Methodist Church in Bill's memory.
