William C. "Bill" Roderick passed away on January 14, 2018, at home with his loving family present. He valiantly fought end-stage COPD for the last several years. His optimism and upbeat attitude stayed with him for every day of his fight.
Bill was born in Bakersfield, California, May 15, 1937, and graduated from Ventura High School in 1955. He enlisted in the US Army shortly after graduation and went on to valiantly and selflessly serve this great nation. In 1969, Bill joined the Ventura County Fire Department and later became a civil engineer, and construction contractor. He spent the majority of his life putting the needs and safety of others before his own.
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife, and is survived by his daughters, Deborah Roderick-Herder and Joan Mikki Schafer; grandchildren, Mark Schafer, Kathleen Norman, Nick and Joey Herder; great-grandsons, Beau and Cole Schafer; and his sister, Linda Devlin. Bill was laid to rest with, the love of his life, Margaret at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks, Westlake Village, CA.
