William "Bill" Roberts of Palm Desert died at home on March 19, 2021 of Cancer at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lupe Roberts, his son William S. Roberts, daughter Robin Mizell and sister Marylane McFarland. Bill was born in Frostburg, Maryland and graduated from La Salle High School in Cumberland, Maryland. He was offered an athletic scholarship to The College of William and Mary in Virginia but ultimately decided that the United States Navy was his calling. He attended Frostburg Teachers College, San Jose State University and graduated from West Valley College in Saratoga, CA.
Bill moved to Palm Desert in 1996 where he practiced his love of golf on a daily basis. He made many friends in the desert and was known for his booming laughter and giving ways. He enjoyed going to Raiders games with his son Bill and was a great example of a strong husband and family man to his children. On his deathbed, he asked his loving wife of 58 years to marry him all over. Bill powered through his pain to live life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Arline Middleton and William Roberts and by his brothers Michael and Patrick Roberts.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi in La Quinta on May 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Serenity Hospice, Palm Springs, CA in his name.
