William Williston Pettine, 91, of Granger, In, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2022, in his home. William was born on August 17, 1930, in Bristol, Rhode Island to Vincent and Elizabeth (Williston) Pettine.
On July 21, 1975, William married the love of his life, Virginia Lee Driscoll, in Boyce, VA. William played football in High School and for Brown University. In 1950 and 1951, William was serving his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed playing Tennis, Sailing, snow skiing and Golfing. Being on the water and sailing is where he always wanted to be.
William spent much of his career in the Recreational Vehicle Industry, predominantly with Fleetwood Enterprises. From 1980 through 1994, he oversaw the Decatur, Indiana motorized plant production as General Manager. Upon retiring from Fleetwood, he was called out of retirement to become President of Dutchmen Manufacturing. He officially retired in 1998.
William is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee Pettine of Granger; his daughter and stepdaughters, Elizabeth (Jeffery) Roberts of Decatur, IN; Valerie L. Kaczmrek of South Bend, IN; and Lori (Dave) Niehoff of Indianapolis, IN.; and his sons, David S. Pettine of California and Greg (Lori) Pettine of Granger, IN. William was preceded in death by his son, William Williston Pettine Jr. and his sister Jacqueline Brett.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that Memorial Contributions be made to Humane Society of St. Joseph County 2506 Grape Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or to The Arc of Indiana 143 W. Market St #200, Indianapolis, In 46204.
