William Gerald Penn, 80 of Rutledge, passed away at his home on November 14. 2022. Mr. Penn was born in Covington on July 13, 1942 to William Randolph Penn and Sara Frances Ray Penn. Gerald was married to the late Linda Autry Penn. He was a long-time educator, teaching at Morgan County High School. He loved classic cars. Gerald owned a service station for years, before going to work for the Board of Education.
Gerald Penn is survived by his children, Stefanie Penn Houser & Ron, Melanie Penn Brigham & David Everett and Gerry Penn & Jill. His siblings are Kenneth & Nancy Penn, Cynthia and Hack Johnston, Harold Penn, Janice and Russell Repetske, Renee and Rick Bruce. Grandchildren are Amanda Holt & Kris, Malcom Nunn, Elizabeth Howell, Dawson and Madison Houser, Scott and Brooke Patton, Trevor Patton and Wyatt Penn. He also leaves nine great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and a devoted caretaker, Pamela Clark. Mr. Penn was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, a brother Wayne Penn and a great grandchild, Cohen Patton.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 17 from 5-7 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11 AM on Friday, November 18. Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
