William P. Oberlander, age 71 of Mott, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin, ND.
William (Bill) was born April 9th, 1951 to Edward and Mary (Haugen) Oberlander, the oldest of five siblings. The manner in which Bill carried himself was marked by an admirable work ethic, a friendly demeanor, sharp wit and taking pride and care in all that he endeavored to learn and work on throughout his life. He gained extensive experience in many trades, starting when he graduated in 1969 working construction until he became an over the road truck driver from 1977-1991. He was known to take very meticulous care of his truck, and was capable of repairing anything on it.
When Bill decided to move away from trucking, he made a bold step to increase his skill set by going back to school to become a welder. Upon graduating in 1994 Bill began working as a production welder for Melroe Bobcat Manufacturing in Bismarck. He brought his attention to detail with him and was esteemed for his abilities.
He worked with Melroe of Bismarck until 2007 and briefly returned to trucking until taking a position at Mott Equity Agronomy in 2010, where again, his commitment to his work made him stand out until he retired. Retirement allowed him to focus his attention on gardening, home repair and tinkering on vehicles.
Outside of his success in the industry Bill enjoyed listening to music and reminiscing. He kept his mind active through crossword puzzles and other games. He enjoyed reading and expanding his knowledge, and even his casual T.V. viewing consisted of watching game shows to keep his brain engaged.
Bill will be remembered for his hard work, humor and friendly nature.
