William Gilbert Morrison, Jr., died on February 2, 2021, at the age of 90. Bill was born in New York City on October 26, 1930 to William G. Morrison and Lucile Heath Morrison. Bill leaves behind his wife of 60 year, Leslia "lee" Pelton Morrison, and three sons: William G. Morrison, III and wife, Joy; James Pelton Morrison and wife, Penny; and John Henry Morrison. Bill had three grandchildren: Sabrina K. Morrison, Alexandra L. Morrison, and James P. Morrison, Jr.
Bill Morrison went to the Short Hills Country Day School in Short Hills, NJ; graduated from the Kent School in 1948; and graduated from Yale University in 1952. He was in the ROTC, and upon graduation joined the U.S. Air Force. He served in Japan during the Korean conflict. Following his Air Force service, Bill acquired a master's degree from NYU in finance. He joined KPMG in New York City and retired as partner in 1985. When Bill moved to Stuart, he joined a group forming the Seaboard Savings Bank in Stuart, and he eventually took over as President, Treasurer and CEO. He retired from Seaboard when it was sold.
Bill was formerly a member of the Rotary Club of New York, the Baltusrol Golf Club, the Short Hills Club and Manhasset Bay Yacht Club. He was currently a member of the University Club of New York and the Acoaxet Club in Westport, MA and the Spindle Rock Yacht Club in Westport, MA.
Bill loved fishing, golf, and sailing, and he was an avid reader. He was often asked for advice on financial matters. Lee and Bill split their time between Stuart, FL and Westport Harbor, MA and traveled extensively after he retired. Bill Morrison was a very generous contributor to many causes in Stuart, FL and Westport, MA.
An informal Celebration of his life will be held this summer in Westport, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army.
