William (Bill/Joe) Derning Morrill, 95, was born in Boscawen, NH on January 18, 1926 and died on April 19, 2021 at Concord Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother, Harriette (Brockway) Morrill, father William B. Morrill, sisters Anniemae Miller and Neva Lee Rapp, niece Susan Rapp, and nephew Greg Miller.
He graduated from Penacook H.S. in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy Aviation Cadet program, and was assigned to Darmouth College for training. He was later transferred to Bainbridge, Maryland's three Naval Air Stations to train pilots in aviation ordnance. He was discharged in 1946 as an Aviation Ordnance Second Class Petty Officer (AOM2C).
Bill attended Keene State College and later transferred to UNH in the Mechanical Engineering program. His education was put on hold due to his father's untimely death (49yrs) and mother's need for support. In 1948, he attended Boston University/New England Aircraft College in dual programs of Aeronautical Engineering and Business Administration.
Employments in General Electric's (Lynn, MA) engineering program lead to further studies at MIT. Changing to a career in sales, he joined Bowser/Keene Corporation, and formed Liquid Handling Specialists, in Boston, eventually becoming a Division Export Sales Manager in Manhattan, NYC. He moved back to NH and opened Aim Filtration Inc. After 10 years of expanding the business, he sold it and retired in 1999.
Bill married Loretta DeBlasio in 1960 and they adopted two children, Dean William and Jill Ann. In 1972, he married Mary Maguire Smith, who had three sons and a daughter from a previous marriage.
Bill is survived by his nieces, Annalee Serrano and Mary Ellen Johns; nephews, Raymond Rapp, David Rapp, and Douglas Rapp; and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves the many friends he made in his ten years at Havenwood, whom he considered his second family.
At Bill's request, his services will be private. He will be buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Penacook, NH at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Advantage Cremation Services of New Hampshire.
