Miles began his career as a newspaperman in Arkansas, working for the Associated Press, then for the Pine Bluff Commercial, becoming City editor and Associate editor. After a career there, he then moved to the Nashville area working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he retired as Director of Housing Management for the Nashville office. He also served on the Planning Commission for the town of Kingston Springs. Miles was a kind person, who loved his fellow man. He was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Jonesboro, AR. For years, he and Carole volunteered with Nashville Room in the Inn and the West Nashville Family Shelter. He also was involved in the building a Habitat for Humanity house in Nashville. In Waldenburg, he was a Lutheran Braille worker. He loved fishing, travel, reading, attending concerts and plays, and being at Greers Ferry Lake in Arkansas, driving the boat for water skiers. He was happiest just being with family and friends, and they loved being with him. A private ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 29, at the J. C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green, KY. The Reverend Weston Williams will be the celebrant.
