William (Bill) McCormack, 88, formerly of Bedford, NH passed away peacefully on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Community Hospice House. He was surrounded by his loving family after suffering a heartattack days prior.
Born July 13, 1932 to Mary Finlayson Smillie and Samuel Albert McCormack, Bill grew up in Elmhurst New York. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War as part of the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red 1). His work in the electronic power supply industry led him from NY to Connecticut and then to New Hampshire. He lived in Bedford, NH for 34 years where he raised his family. After his retirement from Comcast he enjoyed several years in Florida before returning to NH to be closer to family. In his later years he resided at Bentley Commons and the Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
He shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved late wife, Muriel Martin McCormack. He met the love of his life at 10 years old (she was 7) in the junior choir at First Presbyterian Church of Newtown where they later married. Throughout the years, one of his greatest joys was listening to her sing. He was comforted in his final days by her vocal recordings made decades ago.
He loved traveling, playing bridge and fishing. He had a huge heart and loved his family and friends more than anything. His kindness was felt by many as he was always there for others with a helping hand and a smile.
Bill is predeceased by his loving wife, Muriel, identical twin brother Jim McCormack and sister Janet Zipp. He leaves a legacy of love with his family; His son, Peter McCormack, daughter, Debra Dunn and her husband Steven of Bedford, NH, son, Douglas McCormack and his wife Dawn of Boston, MA, daughter, Nancy Martineau and her husband Roger of Manchester, NH as well as his daughter in law, Shirley McCormack of Falmouth, MA.
