William Thomas "Tom" Lacy, 80, of Albany passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Joe Anne Nursing Home in Cuthbert. Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in the chapel of Lunsford Funeral Home.
Tom was born on September 22, 1942 and grew up in Cuthbert, the son of the late Thomas Eugene and Emily Land Lacy. He graduated from Georgia Military College and enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served as a paratrooper in the famed 101 Airborne Division known as the Screaming Eagles. After leaving the Army, Tom moved to Albany and began a thirty plus year career with the U. S. Postal Service.
He loved books and movies and had a collection of thousands of both. He fished, hunted, and was a fantastic marksman. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Peggy; his twin sister, Gail (Howard) Elliot; his three children, Alanda (Tim) Crimmins, Tom (Sally) Lacy, and Emily Lacy; his grandchildren, Chad Crimmins, Erin (Chris) Anderson, Lauren (Jason) Caserio, Thomas Lacy, Amelia Lacy, and Harlow King; and six great-grandchildren, Carson Crimmins, Logan Crimmins, Blakely Aultman, Hudson Caserio, Reed Anderson, and Laney Anderson. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
