William Lawrence Kolb - age 93 of Corryton passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Renaissance Terrace in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Lorenz & Helen (Reckenthin) Kolb on June 25, 1927. Following completion of grade 11, he joined the United States Navy in 1945. He served 1.5 years in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. After returning home, he went to work at General Motors in the Engineering Department and retired after 31 years. He was a kind and gentle soul with deep spiritual faith. Over the years while living in Ohio, Bill & his wife, Dorothy, cared for 27 newborns, and many teenagers through the Greene County Foster Care Services. He and his wife moved from Ohio in 1991 to be with his family in Florida, and then followed them to Tennessee in 1994. He has been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knoxville, Tennessee for 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenz and Helen Kolb; brothers, Robert and Francis Kolb; sister Agnes (Kolb) Hollo; spouse of 68 years, Dorothy; and two sons, Ronald and David. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Kiser (Doug); grandson, Alex Kiser; granddaughters, Emily Kiser and Sara Kolb; great grandson, Bryce; great granddaughter, Jillian. A funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 414 Vine Street, Knoxville, Tennessee on Friday, May 21, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the office of Veteran Affairs in Xenia, OH. A graveside service will be held at Valley View Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 2:00 PM.
