William Norman "Billy" Hughes

William Norman "Billy" Hughes, age 95 of Franklin, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 11am at New Friendship Baptist Church, 5030 Friendship Road, Auburn, KY 42206. Visitation will be Monday, August 25, 2025 at Crafton Funeral Home from 4pm until 8pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday from 8am until funeral service time at 11am at the church. A native of Logan County, he was the son of the late William Bennett Hughes and Matie Gibbs Hughes. Billy was preceded in death by his son - Norman Earl Hughes and siblings - Anna Lee Wren, Jean Simmons, Alvin Hughes and Guy Hughes. He was a life long member of New Friendship Baptist Church where he was the song leader for several years. He was a farmer and a Korean War Army Veteran along with being an Auburn High School graduate. Billy and his wife Martha Ann spent numerous winters in Stuart, Florida. He was a great story teller and adored his family. Survivors include his wife - of 74 years, Martha Ann Soyars Hughes of Franklin; daughter - Luann Carnall (Murray) of Shepherdsville, KY; sister - Shirley Norman (Royce) of Tennessee and brother - Jerry Hughes (Carrell) of Logan County; granddaughters - Emily Carnall McCullough (Matthew) of Mt. Washington, KY and Molly Carnall (Cheyton Pendley) of Owensboro, KY; great granddaughter - Annslee McCullough along with several nieces and nephews. The family has requested that memorial gifts be made to New Friendship Baptist Church, 5030 Friendship Road, Auburn, KY 42206 and/or Hospice of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104.
