William R. Howard, Jr. , 95 Apr 12, 1924 - Jan 22, 2020 William R Howard, Jr., Riderwood, MD. passed away on January 22, 2020 at the age of 95. Born April 12, 1924 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late W. Russell Howard, and Mildred Crow Howard.
He graduated from St James School in 1943. A month later he was drafted into WW2. His decorations included, two combat infantryman badges an Asiatic Pacific Campaign ribbon and three bronze service stars for serving in the Peleliu and Angaur Island campaigns.
He attended Washington and Lee University from 1946- 1949 and was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
He started his banking career in 1950 as a teller at the former Equitable Trust Co. During his 35 year career he rose to become VP and Corporate Trust Officer.
Mr. Howard had been a member and Chairman of the Baltimore Stock Transfer Association, Member of the New York Stock Transfer Association and Member of the Corporate Secretaries Association. He was also a former board member of Advertising Inc.
Mr. Howard was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, in Lutherville where he served as an auditor, treasurer and greeter.
He and his wife Annette enjoyed boating, fishing, and traveling. After retirement, they played golf and spent many winters in Amelia Island, FL.
He is survived by his wife Annette Reynolds Howard of 65 years; his two daughters Michelle H. Dase (Randy) and Kristin H. Forster (Mike Jaeger); and 4 grandchildren, Austin Dase, Hunter Dase, Colin Foster, and Ryan Foster, his sister in law Barbara Hickman Reynolds; his niece, Anne Gurney (Thomas) and nephew William Reynolds III (Christina); and his great nieces and nephews Philip, (Ashley), Beth, (Shane), Stephanie, and Bill.
Visitation will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lutherville, Saturday February, 15 from 10:30-11:30 with a service beginning immediately at 11:30. A private burial will take place in Hagerstown, MD at Rest Haven Cemetery Feb. 28 at 11:00.
