Funeral Services for William Lyle Gardner, 59, of Denver City, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 16, 2021 in the Dag Azam Sports Complex of Denver City with Rev. Kyle Struen officiating, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
William passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.
William was born February 17, 1961 in Odessa, Texas to Butch and Helen Gardner. He married Teresa Wingrove on February 15, 1980 in Odessa, Texas. He was a Lieutenant for the Denver City Police Department, was in Law Enforcement for thirty-three years, attended the Odessa Law Enforcement Academy, employed by the Odessa College Police Department. William then moved to Denver City in June 1995. William received his masters as a Peace Officer in 1998. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, sitting worshipful Master at Denver City Masonic Lodge # 1279, and was a Knight Templar.
He was preceded in death by his brother James Allen Gardner.
William is survived by his wife Teresa Gardner of the home; two daughters Mylissa Taylor and her husband Ryan of Andrews, Kristina Burkhart and her husband Eric of Midland; his parents-in-law James and Jo Ann Wingrove, five grandchildren Blaze Spratlen, Rayne Taylor, Gage Burkhart and his wife Whitney, Makenzie Burkhart, Meagan Burkhart; two great grandchildren Brylee and Wrynlee Burkhart; a brother Paul Gardner and his wife Myshell; along with other extended family.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel.
