Jarrett, Jr. of Miami, FL, his step daughters, Leslie Patykewich (Paul Dowling) and Erika Robinson (Charles) and four grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, James McPherson Jarrett and Helen Fretz Jarrett and his brother, Robert McPherson Jarrett.
Bill was born on June 24, 1940 in Washington, DC. and attended Wilson High School. After graduation, Bill attended the University of Montana and worked for the U.S.Forest Service. Upon graduation, Bill returned to D.C. and was employed by O.E.O Job Corps and the Nat'l Alliance of Businessmen. In 1977, he joined Merrill Lynch where he worked until his retirement in 2001.
Bill was a member of the Alexandria Rotary Club (President, 2006), the St. Andrews Society of Washington, DC (President, 1984), KofC St. Peter PGK and 4th Degree Assembly PFN.
Bill joined the Flint Hill Vol. Fire & Rescue (President, 2004) and volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 316 and the Rappahannock Food Pantry. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Fodderstack 10K where he would call out times at Mile 2. Earlier in his life, Bill was an Eagle Scout (1956) and a member of the National Ski Patrol.
Bill loved music, singing, yodeling and playing his guitar. You could find him in early August at the Old Time Fiddler's Convention on stage playing "Jimmy Brown the Newsboy".
Bill's love of the mountains and hiking drew him to Rappahannock County. But in the end, it was his love of community and service to others that he most cherished.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church later this summer. The date and time will be announced in the Rappahannock News. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Rappahannock Food Pantry at rappahannockpantry.org
