William Kinser Ellenburg, 79, of Salisbury died on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Born in Knoxville, TN he was the son of the late James "Red" Simpson Ellenburg and Anna "Louise" Ellenburg (Kinser).
Bill was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during the 1960's. He continued to proudly serve his country while employed for over 30 years as a linguist for the National Security Agency.
Bill was an active member of the community having been a leader at Delmont United Methodist Church in Severn, MD, serving in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, MYF leader, board member and choir member.
After retiring from NSA, he and his wife, Mary, moved to Monterey, VA where they built his dream home, an underground house. He was again a pillar in the community, serving the Monterey Presbyterian Church and working for 9 years as a deputy clerk at the Highland Circuit Court. He was also a volunteer DJ for Allegheny Mountain Radio and on the board for Highland Medical Center.
Bill is survived by his wife Mary L. Ellenburg, his daughter, Krista L. Hill and her husband, Jeffrey; his younger brother Charles H. Ellenburg and his wife, Donna, six nieces and nephews and multiple great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his older brother James S. "Mickey" Ellenburg, and his wife Phyllis.
