Mr. William Donald "Don" Davis, 91 of Albany, died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Willson Hospice House.
The graveside service was held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Sumner City Cemetery. The Rev. Chuck Knight officiated.
Mr. Davis was born on November 22, 1932 in Worth County to the late John William and Lillie McDonald Davis. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1949, and later graduated from ABAC in 1951. Mr. Davis retired as Vice President of Albany Warehouse Company after 51 years. He was very active in the community; serving as the president of the Georgia Corn Growers Association from 1993-1994, the advisory board of the Georgia Peanut Growers from 1993-1995, the Board of Dougherty County Farm Bureau; past president of the Albany Jaycees, and a member and past master of Dougherty Lodge #591 F&AM. Mr. Davis enjoyed hunting, farming, and camping with his family. He was a former Deacon of West Minister Presbyterian Church and was a member of Porterfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Ivylyn "Iva" Williams Davis, of Albany, GA; children, William Mark Davis (Dale), of Leesburg, GA, Leigh Reid Hope (Donald) of Pawleys Island, S.C., Anita Jill Alford (George), of Tallahassee, FL, grandchildren, Blake Davis (Kelsey), Cameron Reid, Walter Reid, Elliott Reid, Lindsey Reid, Emma Alford, Max Alford; great grandchild, Milo Davis, and a host of extended family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by 12 siblings.
