Longtime Homer resident, William "Willie" M. Crabtree, Jr. 71, died Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Homer, Alaska with friends by his side.
The memorial date and time will be announced at a later date.
Willie was born July 2, 1950, in Cumberland, Maryland where he grew up and graduated from Fort Hille High School in 1968. He entered active duty in the U.S. Air Force in 1975 and served as a Telecommunications specialist. After his discharge in 1978 he was employed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department and worked in Bethel, Kotzebue, Anchorage and finally at Alaska Islands and Oceans Visitor Center in Homer, Alaska where he retired in 2012. He loved fishing, flying, boating and music. A lifelong friend remembers Willie as "one of the kindest kids in class always eager to make things better for others."
He was preceded in death by his parents; William Milford Crabtree, Sr., and Maud Eleanor Kegal; son, Scott Crabtree and brother, Roger Crabtree.
He is survived by his son, Donald Crabtree Meyer, daughter, Kimberly Crabtree and Andy Maier of San Angelo, TX; son, Stephen Crabtree and Keitha Crabtree of Breckenridge, TX; daughter, Kelly Crabtree Long and Andrew Long of Riverside, TX; son, Joshua Crabtree and Ashley Crabtree of Crockett, TX; son, Jeremiah Crabtree, Sr. and Dawn Crabtree of Trinity, TX; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
