William M. Clarke was born in Mobile Alabama and like so many others quit High School and joined the U .S. Marine Corps during WWII. After the war he attended the University Of Alabama and became an attorney. He practiced law in Mobile until shortly before his death in 1998. In the 1960's he was the campaign manager for the Governor of Alabama, John Patterson. He was the father of four girls, Fran, Kathy, Michelle and Avril and the father of two sons Mike and Charlie.
