William Joseph Birkenberger, of North Port, passed away on March 8th, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on March 5th, 1948, in Waterbury, Connecticut, William -known to many as Bill?lived a life marked by service, devotion to family, and a deep love for the outdoors.
Bill proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was present during the Tet Offensive, a pivotal moment in American military history. His time in service reflected his courage and commitment -- qualities that would define him throughout his life.
A passionate fisherman, Bill found joy and peace on the water. Whether casting a line into freshwater lakes, braving the saltwater tides, or drilling through ice in winter months, fishing was more than a hobby?it was a lifelong pursuit that brought him solace and connection with nature.
Bill shared his life with his beloved wife Debbie (Wysocki), with whom he built a family rooted in love and resilience. He was a devoted father to Amy Morris; Krista Birkenberger Lowery, Billie Birkenberger, Jason Birkenberger and his wife Melissa (Guilbert); and the late Shaun Birkenberger. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Josue (Joshua), Amanda, McKenzie, Katherine, William, and Kierstan; as well as great-granddaughters Amelia and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Frieda Birkenberger; his son Shaun; granddaughter Brianna; siblings John (Carol) Birkenberger and Lawrence "Larry" Birkenberger and brother-in-law Tony Orsini.
Bill is also remembered by his surviving siblings: Marge Orsini, Paul (Jeanne) Birkenberger; and Joseph Birkenberger as well as many nieces and nephews. Their enduring bond reflects the strength of family ties that remained central throughout Bill's life.
