William "Bill" Henry Phillips, 86, of Hattiesburg passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2022 at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church. Inurnment will take place the following day at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson.
Mr. Phillips was a member of Parkway Heights UMC, former member of New Covenant UMC, Central UMC in Meridian, and United Methodist Church in Clinton. He married his loving wife of 60 years, Jeanne, in Capitol Street Methodist Church in Jackson. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, but graduated from NOVA University when he moved to Minneapolis, MN. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard in the sixties. Mr. Phillips retired as the CEO from Meridian Mutual Credit Union. He served as Chairman of the Board of the MS Credit Union System from 1999-2000, Chairman of the Board of MS Prison Industrial Corporation, and the Board of the MS Credit Union League in 1991. In 1992 he was the President of the Meridian Loan Exchange and from 1992-1994 he was the President of the Meridian Camera Club. He was also an active member of the Hemerocallis Society in Jackson and Hattiesburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Phillips and his sister, Sally Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jeanne Patrick Phillips of Hattiesburg; his daughter, Marye Runnels (John) of Petal; his two grandchildren, Emily Marye Runnels of Austin, TX and Blake Patrick Runnels of Petal; one niece, Debbie Collins of San Antonio, TX; and one nephew, Chris Collins (Sonja) of Clinton.
