Funeral services for Mr. William "Bill" Russell Larson, Sr. Senior Master Sergeant (RET) will begin at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Sephus Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the MS Veterans Cemetery in Newton, MS with full military honors. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Larson, 72, of Meridian, passed away May 29, 2021 at Anderson Regional Medical Center of Meridian.
Bill was a loving, passionate, and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather, and son. He was a true southern gentleman who had a passion for cars, sports, and his country. He was the first of his family to graduate college; he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he completed his BS in Civil Engineering. He was immensely proud of his grandson, Matthew Larson, as well as his entire family, and their accomplishments. In his spare time, he enjoyed following Matthew playing baseball. He loved to spend time around the table with family and friends whenever he was able. He was also a passionate Atlanta Braves fan. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force, for over 28 years, where he went on to retire as Senior Master Sergeant. He was also a servant to his fellow man, serving as a professional firefighter for 12 years in Hattiesburg, MS; prior to re-entering the Air Force in Meridian, MS. Bill was also a faithful follower of Christ, having attended church as long as his health permitted.
Bill is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Jan Larson; children Don Larson (Faye) and Russ Larson (Holly). Grandchildren Christina Larson, Elizabeth Larson, and Matthew Larson. Siblings Patricia Larson, Mary Pearce (Johnny), Jackie Huber, and Mark McDonald (Kitty) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Mr. Larson is preceded in death by his parents Arnold Reuben Larson, Capitola "Kitty" Evans McDonald; step-father Ray McDonald; siblings Philip Hall, Karen Madden, Mike Hazelwood, and Belinda McDonald.
The Larson family suggests memorials be made as donations to Wounded Warriors Foundation or to Tunnels to Towers in lieu of flowers.
