On Monday, January 16, 2023, William "Bill" Howard Jeffers Jr., 82, departed this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Green County, Tennessee to Dorothy Douthat Jeffers and William Howard Jeffers Sr. and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. He graduated from Knoxville East High School in 1958, attended the University of Tennessee, and, in 1967, received a B.S. degree in Industrial Technology from East Tennessee State University. He began a career with Western Electric/AT&T and retired from Lucent Technology. After his retirement, he was a trucking company owner and, at times, a driver. He enjoyed woodworking and golf and maintaining his home. He was a devoted and long-time member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Stacey Jeffers Tritt. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Paulette Gray Jeffers; daughter, Stephanie Jeffers Belew (Rich); stepson, Marty Speaks (Erica); grandchildren, Jacqui Tritt (Adam), Justin Sparks (Cheyenne), Roland Belew, and Madeline Belew; great-grandchildren, Alyah Tritt, Charles Jeffers (Janet), and Roland "Ron" Jeffers (Katy); and brother-in-law, Tommy Gray (Cathy).
A service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church's Garden of Remembrance. A visitation will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
