DOERUN, GA - William "Bill" Earl Cash, Sr. 84, of Doerun, passed away April 27, 2022, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with Dr. David Benton officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.
Born January 8, 1938, till the age of 17 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Ralph Cash and Eunice Cash. Reaching the age of seventeen he joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 22 years. A volunteer for most any assignment, Bill served in several foreign countries, England, North Africa, Norway, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan and Spain. Assigned to the diplomatic corps for a while he served in most of the Scandinavian Countries. In the USA, Bill was assigned to the service in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Montana, New York and Maine. Awarded a Top Secret/Cryptographic security clearance, Bill was assigned to an inspection team traveling from state to state checking the missile operational readiness program to ensure the USA was ready should the need arise. Having quit high school to enter the service, Bill realized his education was lacking so he reentered school at night and eventually gained a bachelor's degree in business psychology. Upon retirement from the United States Air Force Bill went into the industrial and commercial Security and Investigation business and remained until his retirement 28 years later. One thing Bill was noted for was his love and protection of animals, he would feed any animal that came to his home, sometimes having as many as 30 strays. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of Doerun and was a strong believer in God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Pearson and the love of his life, Joan Roslyn Hathcock Cash. They met on Wednesday, married the following Wednesday, and were married for 47 years, until Joan passed away in 2018.
Survivors include his children, Earl Cash, Stuart Cash, Lisa Cox, Judy Lynn Miller and husband Edward.
